'''FusionForge''' is a software forge derived from [http://www.gforge.org/ GForge] (versions 4.x).  It started as a way to  keep the open-source codebase alive, and bring contributors of enhancements together.  FusionForge is developed by a group of [http://www.ohloh.net/p/fusionforge/contributors contributors], ranging from volunteer individuals to members of large organizations and companies.  We are also actively collaborating with other forges through the [http://planetforge.org PlanetForge initiative].  The free software aspect and the cross-forge collaboration aspects are equally important to the FusionForge project, and were actually triggers for its initiation; the genesis of the project is documented on the [http://roland.entierement.nu/blog/2009/01/25/gforge-is-now-fusionforge.html announcement].

= Getting FusionForge =

If you want to install FusionForge, [[Installing]] has a list of instructions on how to install it on your server.  If you're interested in the source code, also have a look at [[Installing/SourceCode]].

If you want to play with FusionForge before trying to install it, the demo instance at http://fusionforgedemo.no-ip.org/ is wiped and reinstalled daily, so it's a great playground to get familiar with the tool.  The administrator's credentials are "admin" as login and "admin" as password.

The project is loosely organised, but we tried to document our [[Organization]] nevertheless, as well as a list of [[Maintainers]] for subsystems and plugins.


We also sometimes organize gatherings, such as the [[2 days Hackers/users meeting in Paris, 2010-02-03 and 04|February 2010 meeting]], where developers, users and other interested parties can meet face-to-face and discuss technical as well as non-technical questions.

So you want to help?  Great!  There are lots of things to do…  You should probably start by getting in touch (see above), but if you want to contribute, there are a number of places where help would be, well, helpful.   You may want to check out the [[Roadmap]] to get a feeling of where we're trying to go.  We also have a number of [[Suggestions]] of more concrete features we'd like to see implemented, which could provide good ways to get involved.  Also welcome would be help in [[ForgePackaging|Packaging]], and of course [[Translations]].
