User documentation About the project/community Contributing Installing/Upgrade/Migrate

FusionForge is a software forge derived from GForge (versions 4.x). It started as a way to keep the open-source codebase alive, and bring contributors of enhancements together.

By installing FusionForge, you allow users in your organisation to collaborate. Users will create projects, and use the forge tools to run the project's online community (through discussion lists, forums, etc.), and to create software artifacts, publish and maintain them (using tools like revision control systems, trackers, file release systems, or documentation manager, wikis, etc.).

FusionForge is developed by a group of contributors, ranging from volunteer individuals to members of large organizations and companies.

FusionForge is free software : read the Licence page.

The free software aspect and the cross-forge collaboration aspects are equally important to the FusionForge project, and were actually triggers for its initiation.
The genesis of the project is documented on this blog post.

FusionForge features

FusionForge has tools to help your team collaborate, like message forums and mailing lists; tools to create and control access to Source Code Management repositories like CVS, Git, Mercurial or Git. FusionForge automatically creates a repository and controls access to it depending on the role settings of the project.

Additional Features:

  • Manage File Releases.
  • Document Management.
  • News announcements.
  • Surveys for users and admins.
  • Issue tracking with "unlimited" numbers of categories, text fields, etc.
  • Task management.
  • Wiki (using MediaWiki or MoinMoin).
  • A powerful plugin system to add new features.

Getting FusionForge

Check Installing to install/upgrade FusionForge on your server or migrate from another tool to FusionForge.

Getting documentation

Once FusionForge is installed, check Special:Categories for a start point, in particular Admin documentation or user documentation per version:

Videos

See our Presentations.

Getting involved

See the New Contributor page.

Getting in touch

The preferred way to reach us is the project mailing list fusionforge-general@lists.fusionforge.org and the #fusionforge IRC channel on FreeNode (subject to timezone constraints).

The project is loosely organised, but we documented our Organization. See also the list of plugins to reach their authors.

We sometimes organize Meetings, where developers, users and other interested parties can meet face-to-face and discuss technical as well as non-technical questions.
