FusionForge is a software forge derived from GForge (versions 4.x). It started as a way to keep the open-source codebase alive, and bring contributors of enhancements together. FusionForge is developed by a group of contributors, ranging from volunteer individuals to members of large organizations and companies. We are also actively collaborating with other forges through the PlanetForge initiative. The free software aspect and the cross-forge collaboration aspects are equally important to the FusionForge project, and were actually triggers for its initiation; the genesis of the project is documented on the announcement.
Getting in touch
Getting help on using or administrating FusionForge
To get help on administrating or using FusionForge, have a look at the FusionForge manual of the version you are running at the documentation tab.
For more info you can chat to the FusionForge developers on IRC at
irc.freenode.net on the channel
#fusionforge, or using an IRC web client. Note that due to timezone constraints, there isn't always someone on IRC; you may want to use the mailing-list, which doesn't have this problem.
Getting in touch with "the project"
I you need to talk to us, you'll then understand that your best bet (so far) is either to pick one member out of random, or better contact the whole project via the channels above.... until we decide we setup a PR crew for just that kind of contact enquiries.
We also sometimes organize gatherings, such as the February 2010 meeting, where developers, users and other interested parties can meet face-to-face and discuss technical as well as non-technical questions.
So you want to help? Great! There are lots of things to do… You should probably start by getting in touch (see above), but if you want to contribute, there are a number of places where help would be, well, helpful. You may want to check out the Roadmap to get a feeling of where we're trying to go. We also have a number of Suggestions of more concrete features we'd like to see implemented, which could provide good ways to get involved. Also welcome would be help in Packaging, and of course Translations.
