[#433] Adding large numbers of users to groups is too slow

Description

Summary:

Detailed description

It is very slow and cumbersome to add users to groups. For example if you have a forge for you company and also have external contractors, that should be in a separate group. When you first setup Fusion Forge you will have to add all the users into the group one at a time by typing their username.

This could be improved by modifying the Site Admin> list of Users to include tick boxes to select users. Then have a functions at the bottom to add all ticked users to a group.

It would also be good to include a select all users button to make creation of group with everyone but a small number of people easy.

Thank you again. Looking at my posts I haven't been clear. To see this issue. I meant role not group. 1. Login as a Forge Admin 2. Go to "Site Admin" 3. Under "Global roles and permissions" create a role called "Forge Admin" (or some other name) if it dosen't exist. 4. Also under "Global roles and permissions" select "Forge Admin" and then "Edit Role" 5. Try to add 100 or more users to this role. You will find: The "Add User" box is bellow the user list. As the user list grow you must scroll down more and more for each user you add. This can be fixed by moving the "Add user" box to the top of the page. You must add users by their username which may not be obvious, if you have a list of First and Last names. You must type in each user name and click the "Add user" box individually. This could be using an interface similar to the "Add User from List" for a project.

To clarify I am currently using 5.1, this is releated to groups not projects. The use case is that we have a group of people at our company who are allowed to view "restricted" projects. This is done by having a group called restricted users, and using that on each project. A interface similar the one under "Users and Permission" would be great.

In my own forge, we have a added a feature that allow project admins to upload a CSV file with users to add in their project. The CSV file format is: login, role Is it what you need?

such feature already exists. In your project: select "admin" tab -> "Users & permissions" then "Add User From List" You can tick user then add massively users to your project.
